Our Mission

Welcome to Yusavage Family Chiropractic!

We are so glad you are taking steps to a healthier you!  Our primary focus at Yusavage Family Chiropractic, P.C. is to provide high quality chiropractic care to help remove nervous system interference.  The reason behind this is that your nervous system controls every process and function of your body including but not limited to digestion, respiration, heart rate, and monitoring and maintaining all of your senses.  Any disruption to your nervous system caused by the pressure of misalignments of the spine can be detrimental to your health.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic involves the study of science, art and philosophy:

  • The science of locating spinal subluxation (misalignments) in the spine that interfere with the nervous system, so that the body can heal itself
The sciences that deal with human biology – especially the intricate relationship between the spinal segments and the nerve system.
  • The art of locating and correcting the vertebral subluxations
Chiropractic art is the physical expression of its philosophy and involves the means by which doctors of chiropractic locate and correct (adjust) vertebral subluxations.
  • The philosophy of health promoting a subluxation-free life
Philosophy considers the fundamental nature of existence, of human beings and their interaction with the environment. The philosophy of chiropractic is most interested in the effect of vertebral subluxation on the body’s innate striving to express and maintain its own health.

Ultimately, the goal of chiropractic is to improve the life and health of patients. Misalignments in the vertebrae of the spinal column (your back) can disrupt proper nerve function and lead to decreased performance and health.  (Sherman College of Chiropractic)

Who needs chiropractic?

Everyone should be checked by a chiropractor to see if they may have subluxation or misalignment of the spine.  Sometimes you may not have symptoms but may be suffering from subluxation.  When you are suffering from subluxation the only thing that will alleviate this is a chiropractic adjustment.

The Chiropractic Adjustment

The purpose of an adjustment is to correct the vertebral subluxation complex. This is a misalignment of the spine that causes nerve interference.

The cause of subluxation can be categorized 3 different ways; physical, biochemical and psychological.

Physical:  This is the easy component of subluxation to explain because it can include trauma to the body, repetitive motions affecting the body and spine, bad postural habits, improper postures while at work, and weak or imbalanced spinal musculature.  When you consider these things you could understand where a misalignment of the spine can occur.

Biochemical:   The term bio-chemical refers to things that you put into your body that occur in nature or what we construct in manufacturing plants.  This also includes poor dietary and nutritional practices, any form of drug (prescription and over the counter) and alcohol use and abuse, and the ingestion of chemical toxins in the foods we eat, air we breathe, and water we drink. Chemicals which are harmful to the body can decrease the body's ability to function optimally and reduce the ability to successfully adapt to and withstand internal and external stressors making us more susceptible to vertebral subluxation, chronic and acute illness (Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, etc.) and injury.

Psychological:   Stress that exceeds your body’s ability to adapt to it can alter your body’s ability to sustain and maintain normal functions. The effect of mental stress on your body’s health is a documented topic in many medical journals and has shown to have devastating effects on your immune system, your musculoskeletal system and your nervous system.  These devastating effects can make your body more susceptible to injury and disease.
